Joey Neuenschwander is the current Director of Bands at Buchanan High School in Clovis, California. Mr. Neuenschwander (aka Mr. Neu) grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Neu received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Masters in the Arts of Teaching from San Diego Christian College. In 2016, Mr. Neu moved out to California to be the Director of Bands at Kastner Intermediate School and an Associate Director of Bands at Clovis West High School. In 2019, he joined the team at Buchanan High School and Alta Sierra Intermediate School and he still currently serves at both sites. After six years of working with the Buchanan Education Center Instrumental Music programs in many different capacities, he is now serving as the Director of Bands at Buchanan and the Director of Orchestras at Alta Sierra.

    Mr. Neu loves making music and teaching students, but his passion for his family and for God make up the majority of his life. He and his wife, Julia, are very blessed to have four young children, including a brand 'neu' baby girl born in August of 2025. In every aspect of his life, but especially in his teaching and his family, Mr. Neu strives to passionately follow the teaching of Jesus Christ each and every day.
