General Trip Details

Emergency Contacts: Tommy Fredrickson or call Buchanan High School (559-327-3000).
Student Transportation: School bus from BHS.

Performer Attire

Buchanan Jazz Bands: dress shoes (black socks only), slacks/dress pants/skirts (length must be past the knee), long-sleeve button-up dress shirts/blouses, or nice dresses (length must be past the knee). Coats/ties are optional. Leggings, jeggings, or yoga pants are not acceptable for concert attire. All students must be in CUSD Dress Code.

Alta Sierra Jazz Band: ASI Instrumental Music polo shirt, black dress-style shoes, black dress-style slacks with belt, and black socks (no white socks, please). All students must be in CUSD Dress Code.

Packing List

  • Mr. Fredrickson brings:

    • Sheet Music, scores, festival forms.

  • Festival Provides: Chairs, Stands, Piano, Guitar Amp, Bass Amp, Vibes, Drum Set (no hi-hat stand or cymbals)

  • Students bring:

    • Instruments, instrument cables, mutes,

    • Hi-hat stand and clutch, extra cymbal stand - Rylan

    • Cymbals - Hunter

    • Double bass, rock stop, cable - Evalina

    • Fender jazz bass, strap, cable - Addison M.

    • Note about shared equipment: Each student must personally verify that they have all equipment they need for the performance. For example, Drummer A cannot assume that Drummer B has the cymbals, because Drummer B might be making the same assumption. You must personally verify that all shared equipment is where you need it, when you need it. Communicate and work together.

Thursday, December 4

ASI Jazz Band A
8:15am - Call time at BHS Band Room. Load bus.
8:30am - Depart for Fresno State.
8:45am - Arrive at Fresno State. BHS Jazz B store instruments in designated area.
9:00am - Watch Bullard Talent Middle School (Concert Hall)
9:30am - Warm-up (M206).
10:00am - Performance (Concert Hall).
10:30am - Clinic (M127), then store instruments in designated area.
11:15am - Watch Fresno State Jazz Ensemble (Concert Hall).
12:00pm - Board Bus and depart for BHS.
12:15pm - Return to BHS. Students store instruments and go to lunch.
