Music Is Humanity

Coming to the Music for All National Festival has taught me so much. It's also taught me just how much orchestra really means to me. Being in orchestra isn't just a hobby or a class. If that's all it is for you then I only wish that I can explain how it's so much more. As our clinician Larry Livingston said, "Orchestra can't be described". This statement really made me think about how I would describe Orchestra to someone. After a while I realized that what maestro Livingston said was completely true. There are no words that are beautiful and exquisite enough to describe how orchestra can make you feel. It's not only about the notes on the pages and making music. It's about feeling others around you, feeling the music inside your soul and letting it take control. Music is what connects the world and is what we as humans need.  Music isn't just pretty sounds it's heartbreak, anger, freedom, apologies, inspiration and everything that makes up this world. After this day I can never experience music how I did before. Now music isn't just noise, it's the story of someone's life. This trip has taught me so much about how deep and spiritual music and orchestra really is. Everything I've learned from this clinic will stay with me for the rest of my life. Everyone I've met during this trip will continue to be my friend for the rest of me life.
