The morning of our last day in the beautiful city of Seattle, the orchestra visited the Museum of Pop Culture. It was such a fun and memorable experience. Once we arrived, after a ride on the Monorail and a quick orientation, my group of 10 headed into the museum. We first stopped by the video game room, which housed a ton of unique videos games that we tried and failed miserably at playing. Then the group toured the Nirvana and Rock & Roll exhibits in which we got to see lots of special guitars and memorabilia.
Next on our visit through the museum, we went to to the jam rooms, where we were able to try our some real rock instruments and I effectively got the opening of "Come As You Are" by Nirvana stuck in my head. I spent the next solid 20 minutes trying to figure out the fingerings to play it on the guitar and my friends were probably very tired of hearing the same 5 notes over and over again. We also got a quick rhythm/ear lesson at a station that would play a rhythm and then you would have to try to figure out how to play it on the drums.
To finish off the morning, the group went through the fantasy and horror experiences. We got to see stuff from our favorite movies and shows in an interactive way. Some of the seniors and I even got to test out how well we could scream. After that, our time at the museum was up and we headed to the gift shop and then Bucca di Beppo for lunch. Overall, the whole experience was super entertaining and really fun. I am so glad I was able to make this memory.
