2024 Financial Considerations • Parent Pledge & Consent Form

To be completed by the parent/guardian.

The students, directors, and staff are looking forward to a great season and we are excited that your child has chosen to be a part of our program. Our program is supported by the Buchanan High School Instrumental Music Boosters, an organization made up of band, guard, and orchestra parents as well as others who are interested in supporting the continued success of the program.

The support of our marching band parents plays an integral role in the success of the season. For the marching band to be successful, the program must raise all of the necessary funds to cover the costs of the season.

As you may already know, the budget dollars provided by the state to Clovis Unified do not fully fund our Instrumental Music Programs, including the following activities or expenses:

  • Staffing ($35,000)

  • Music Arrangements & Drill Design, and Music Copyright Permissions ($15,000)

  • Prop construction, painting, graphic prints, etc. ($1,500)

  • Equipment & supplies ($4,000)

  • Colorguard Flags & Uniforms ($7,500)

To continue to provide these opportunities, we must collectively raise the amounts necessary to cover our costs with fundraising and voluntary contributions. With that in mind, the total fundraising goal for the program is $63,000. Thus, estimating that there are 140 members, the fundraising goal for the Marching Band program is approximately $450.00 per person

$63,000 / ~140 members = $450.00 per member

To assist the program in achieving its financial goal, we have several major fundraisers planned. Information about current & upcoming fundraisers will be communicated.

Band families can help us reach our financial goals by participating in one or more fundraising opportunities. Families are also encouraged to make a voluntary contribution to the Buchanan Band Program, instead of or in addition to fundraising.

Fundraising activities are not mandatory. Your student will not be adversely affected in terms of their participation in the Program if they cannot assist in fundraising and/or making voluntary contributions to the Program. The Program’s fundraising goal is a collective one, and not on an individual student basis. As such, the larger the number of students unable or unwilling to assist, the greater the burden on those students who do meet the Program’s fundraising goal for the benefit of everyone. Based on the collective fundraising goal, if each of the members in the Program fundraises equally, the amount attributable to each student is only $450.00.

We strongly encourage families and students to assist in fundraising activities and/or make voluntary donations to the program so that we can continue to offer these opportunities to Buchanan students.

Marching Band Trips

Please note that we have two trips planned to the Bands of America Regional Championships in Rancho Cucamonga, California (Depart Nov. 1st or early AM Nov. 2nd/Return early AM Nov, 3rd), and St. George, Utah, November 8th-10th in addition to our local competitions and performances. An additional field trip fee will be collected to cover the costs of this trip. More trip information will be available soon.

Thank you in advance for your ongoing support of the Buchanan Instrumental Music Program.
